FUE Technique

What Is FUE Technique?

The FUE technique is an advanced method used in almost all hair transplant operations today. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), which has replaced the FUT technique in a short time, collects hair roots one by one with special-tipped micro-instruments under local anesthesia and places them in the balding areas, taking into account the hair growth angle and direction.

How Is the FUE Technique Hair Transplantation Performed?

Today, the majority of hair transplant operations are performed with the FUE method. Since FUE is not a surgical procedure, it is more popular with patients.

In the FUE method, the hair is taken one by one from the donor area and transferred to the balding areas. Before this procedure, the hair in the donor area is cut and shortened to 1 mm. During the procedure, hair follicles will be taken with local anesthesia and the areas to be transplanted are anesthetized. Hair follicles taken from the donor area are transplanted to the bald area individually, not collectively. Today, micro motors are used in the FUE technique of hair transplantation.

The biggest advantage of the FUE method is that the healing process is easier and faster since no incisions are made on the scalp. Since no incision is made, there is no trace of the operation. The FUE method is also preferred by people who do not have enough hair follicles in the donor area. The most commonly used area as a donor is the nape; so if the patient does not have enough hair follicles on the nape, the operation can be performed by removing hair follicles from the beard and chest. Since the transplanted hair follicles are taken from areas with non-shedding properties such as the top of the ear and the nape, the hair that grows after the procedure does not fall out. In short, the FUE technique gives very permanent and effective results.

After the Procedure

Standard FUE hair transplant operations take about 6-7 hours. Since the operation is performed under local anesthesia, the patients are discharged on the same day. After FUE hair transplantation, the transplanted hair falls out within a few weeks. The shed hair will grow back after about 1-2 months, to be permanent. The first wash is carried out by the physician one or two days after the procedure.

The first 15 days after FUE hair transplantation are of great importance. During recovery heavy exercises are not allowed. The operation area should be protected against the sun and should not be exposed to heat. Using a soft pillow during sleep to protect the transplanted area is also important.
